1st Assistant Director
When I'm not Writing or Directing, I often work as a 1st Assistant Director. I've had the honor and pleasure of working with many talented filmmakers on various genres, features, series, commercials and music videos. Working as a 1st AD has made me a stronger Director. I have a newfound appreciation for the craft.
I have been invited to speak on various events on what it takes to be a 1st AD, which I find as a compliment to my work.
What I bring to the set, I'm firm to safety and time. I always say I'm that one crew member people love and hate and for the same reasons. Additionally, when hiring me as the 1st, they not only get the traditional works an Assistant Director holds, but an onset paralegal as well. I utilize my degree most when working as a 1st AD. I keep both the production and those hired on to the production on legal standing grounds where everyone involved feels safe and protected. At the end of the shoot, I hand over my report in a neatly collated binder; which includes all signed documents and other production paperwork in a neat and orderly fashion.
I'm adamant that any set I work on, is maintained to the highest levels of safety protocol. Safe from any inappropriate behavior, clean and sterile from further spreading any infectious disease, and legally sound to protect all involved. Having me on your set as your 1st AD, means I will do all in my power to stay within the standards I stand by, making a memorable and fun production while I keep strict to my job.
