We are taken through her daily turmoils, how she handles her accomplishments and battling between hiding her identity as a deejay by night to a notorious pimp and rapper from her life as a preschool teacher by day. A musical period piece drama. Alexa Polar wrote and directed the short film, which is also her proof of concept. Speakeasy to Me is a short film proof of concept for a feature length version and stage play adaptation! LOGLINE: A love story set during the era of prohibition during the 1920's. SYNOPSIS: Charlie, a federal agent, falls in love with Elizabeth, a speakeasy owner. The complications continue, as Charlie is trying to prove himself to the force. He's the newbie and the youngest one on the squad. Federal Agent Hutchins, Charlies superior, oversees his men and is ambitious on making New York City a dry city. Hutchins ambitions make him a dangerous man. Additionally, Charlie has to deal with Elizabeth's business partner, Frank, an obsessive man who wants nothing more than Elizabeth in his mitts. A documentary short film that exposes the correlation as a compare and contrast of the Great Depression and the Great Recession. Alexa Polar wrote and directed the short documentary film. LOGLINE: From the Great Depression to the Great Recession. SYNOPSIS: America Foreclosed uses the compare and contrast method to illustrate how the banks and ill method of their ways of selling and quick to take back sales; with the example of the Hooverville (shantytown) eras during the Great Depression and our recent recession. In the 1930’s after the stock market crashed, the banks took thousands of homes widespread across America. The irony in the compare and contrast is that in recent years during our close to our second depression…millions of homes were taken widespread across America, and there were “Bushvilles”, what people recently called them during our recession. Hoovervilles can obvious happen again! The plan is to educate others on how the state of the economy, made by major errors on the banks behalf, can control and affect our housing situation. John the Barber - The setting is in New York during 1930, John was a successful Doctor. John's father passes away and leaves him the family business, a barbershop that has been around for generations. John feels guilt in taking over the business, becoming a full time barber. One faithful night, John saves the life of a young mobster, member of the Gambino family. The saving of Lorenzo's life leads to John becoming the secret doctor to the mob, which leads to several circumstances out of his control...
The Not So Late Show - A television show that's made for kids, inspired by kids but with an adult late night talk show theme; just not so late. Picture the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, now picture Jimmy Fallon is 16, his sidekick is 14, the shows in house band consist of musicians that range from 13-17 years of age. Now, the invited guests that attend the show for interviews to promote their own projects can be anyone at any age, as long as what they are promoting is kid friendly. That's what The Not So Late Show is.
